Basic Design- Relationships within the Frame

In 1977, I had the privilege to be in a Design Class with a Denver Public school teacher, Edith Niblo. Emily Griffith Opportunities School had been founded in the 1920's by a woman who recognized that women needed occupations and income. I learned more in that semester than I had at University of North Carolina- Chapel Hill where I received a BA in Studio Art. The material from Edith's class supports abstract and representational art endeavors. She had read all the writings of Hans Hofmann, was a fan of Georgia O’Keeffe, and was an excellent teacher. She taught experiential exercises that incorporate design ideas and teach students to think and resolve relationships within the frame.

Here is that material that I have taught in many formats. If you are looking for something fun and gratifying to do at home…this might be it. age 14 and up.
