Mediators painted for Eldorado Studio Tour, September 21 & 22

Claude Lévi-Strauss, French anthropologist, proposed a structuralist theory that suggests that Coyote and Crow obtained mythic status because they are mediator animals between life and death. Cultures, he claimed, must take into account both life and death and need to have a way of mediating between the two. Mythology unites opposites in diverse ways. Searching for the underlying patterns of belief in all cultures and forms of human activity lead Linda Armantrout to paint from myth and from the heart. What do you see?
