Happy New Year

Out of the EarthThe Big Happy Group Show No. 2 was so wonderful. The opening was a blast with curator and owner, Stephen Parise, hosting art consultants, famous artists, editors and nationally respected gallerists. Linda's gang really showed up for her. She thanks everyone who came and all who sent good wishes.  What a great Santa Fe gallery debut for Armantrout Studio.

Mediators painted for Eldorado Studio Tour, September 21 & 22

Claude Lévi-Strauss, French anthropologist, proposed a structuralist theory that suggests that Coyote and Crow obtained mythic status because they are mediator animals between life and death. Cultures, he claimed, must take into account both life and death and need to have a way of mediating between the two. Mythology unites opposites in diverse ways. Searching for the underlying patterns of belief in all cultures and forms of human activity lead Linda Armantrout to paint from myth and from the heart.  What do you see?  Visit this painting and others at Available Paintings or at Armantrout Studio during Studio Tour or before by appointment. Birds of Many Colors for Eldorado Studio Tour September 21 & 22

“May my heart hold the earth all the days of my life, and when I am gone to farther camps, may my name sound on the green hills, and may cedar smoke that I have breathed drift on the canyon walls among the branches of living trees. May birds of many colors encircle the soil where my steps have been placed, and may the deer, the lion, and the bear of the mountains be touched by the blessings that have touched me. May I chant the praises of the wild land, and may my spirit range on the wind forever.” N Scott Momaday
