Basic Design- Relationships within the Frame

In 1977, I had the privilege to be in a Design Class with a Denver Public school teacher, Edith Niblo. Emily Griffith Opportunities School had been founded in the 1920's by a woman who recognized that women needed occupations and income. I learned more in that semester than I had at University of North Carolina- Chapel Hill where I received a BA in Studio Art. The material from Edith's class supports abstract and representational art endeavors. She had read all the writings of Hans Hofmann, was a fan of Georgia O’Keeffe, and was an excellent teacher. She taught experiential exercises that incorporate design ideas and teach students to think and resolve relationships within the frame.

Here is that material that I have taught in many formats. If you are looking for something fun and gratifying to do at home…this might be it. age 14 and up.

2020 Eldorado Studio Tour Cancelled

A message from Linda Armantrout:

Through the veil...The Eldorado Studio Tour has been judiciously canceled. Sponsor monies will be fully returned. I feel so much gratitude to the businesses who are willing to sponsor. Also gratitude and appreciation sent to friends who steered the Studio Tour and have worked very hard to bring us almost to completion. With the world upside down, they reached out through a democratic process to cancel the 2020 tour.  The important thing is for all of us to self-quarantine, stay healthy, and out of our hospitals. Keep your eyes and heart open for how you can help your community. I will be using my Facebook page to spotlight my colleagues wonderful artwork that deserves to be seen, and I will be evaluating how I can be of service to the greater community. The Eldorado Studio Tour sends a percentage of sales each year to Eldorado Fire & Rescue, so I will explore how Armantrout Studio might do an online fundraiser.

Here is the large canvas I have been painting in New Mexico. It is 36x60 inches, oil on canvas. I am so grateful to be painting in New Mexico. To all who read this. Please, take care, stay healthy and keep your communities safe by staying home.

The Sabbatical Lasted Longer than Expected

View from the studioAfter the Spark Gallery Show and the January Moving and Clearance Sale, it was fast forward to stage the Louisville Studio and home and get it on the market. On April 25th, Armantrout Studio moved to the Eldorado Community southeast of Santa Fe, New Mexico. Spring and Summer’s energy went into creating the perfect home and studio/gallery in the High Desert of Santa Fe County. Linda will be posting some of the art highlights of summer in Santa Fe on her Armantrout Studio Page on Facebook. Many events sustained Linda as an artist, and directed her back into her studio practice in September. Watch Facebook for discounts and events this Fall and Winter.
